Biography Notes...

@S09298@ I have in my possession, numerous well documented family photographs and newspaper clippings substantiating the identity of, Barbara Blanche Copley Pry. Newspaper articles to follow in their entirety. The Portland Oregonian, 1949 (the newspaper, name and date were excluded from this article.) "Franklin Princess Ready for Rose Fete, The tempest of Rose Festival events will be calm sailing for Franklin's Princess Barbara. She's been through a typhoon---an interview with Spike Jones. As a cub reporter on the Franklin Post last fall she drew this as her initial assignment. Barbara came out of it with her first by-line and an autographed record from Doodles Weaver, one of Spike's chief clowns. Barbara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Copley, 7247 S.E. Division Street. She was born in Portland on September 18, 1931, and attended Kellogg school. She missed out on Junior Rose Festival doings because she was two inches too short but now she stands a stately 5 feet 6 inches has brown hair and hazel eyes. The fun Barbara has working for the Post is responsible for her decision to go to the University of Oregon next fall to study journalism. She'll also take home economics course, following up her classes in high school. She has had a year of clothing and two years of food study, just passing the biscuit-making stage last week. She is a representative in the Associated Girl Studens, room representative and former secretary and sergeant-at-arms of Pentathlon, a service club. She likes tennis, dancing and swmming and knits Argyles in her spare time. Her only pet is a two-month-old kitten, Figaro, or "Figgy" for short. Barbara has no steady boy friend, but prefers to "play the field." She also has no record player and visits a girl friend when she wants to hear the Weaver record again." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------- The Portland Oregonian, 1956 (the newspaper name and date were excluded from this article.) "Pair Plans New Home, In an early evening ceremony October 27 at St. Marks Episcopal church Barbara Blanche Copley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Copley, became bride of Jacque Norman Pry of San Francisco, son of Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Pry of Shelby, O. The bride wore white Dupioni silk with lace overlay and veil held by a matching pillbox with forehead medallions of lace and pearls. She carried a white prayer book with orchids. Attendants, wearing emerald green satin with white muffs garlanded with stephanotis, were Mrs. Allen Gilbert Plum, Donna Little and Kathryn Ann Callahan. John Thayer Raggio of San Francisco was best man and ushers were the bride's cousins Kenneth L. Copley and Allen Plum. After the ceremony a reception was held at Portland Garden Club and later the couple left by plane for a honeymoon in Hawaii. On their return they will make their home in San Francisco." *A beautiful photograph accompanies this article. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------- The Portland Oregonian, 1963 (the newspaper name and date were excluded from this article.)
