PHILPOTT
Henry N. Philpott – Mary Ann Batchelor
Henry Philpott is the father of Henry Nathaniel Philpott who was bapt. 14 Mar 1824 at Weyhill, Southampton/Hampshire with Elizabeth listed as his mother. Where were Henry and Elizabeth married? Also any other information on the family. Where did Henry Nathaniel Philpott die ?- Who were the Philpott ancestors?
According to family tradition, Henry Nathaniel Philpott, who was a blacksmith at Gussage-St.-Michael’s, traveled north past Stonehenge to visit family before coming to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, c. 1873. Henry returned to England, not wanting to die “in this God-forsaken land.” Family tradition says he died in London, either run over by a cab or while shoeing a horse. [A good possibility for his parents are Henry Phillpott and Elizabeth Hatcher of Goodworth Clatford, Hampshire, England, m. 10 Nov 1814, Dorset which is near Weyhill where Henry Nathaniel was baptized.]
