John Jones (1776) was the son of John Jones, chr Apr 23 1749 Monk Okehampton [film # 916866] and married 28 June 1775 [film # 917151] Iddlesleigh, Devon to Elizabeth Westcot who was born about 1750 and was buried 19 Apr 1809, Monk Okehampton [film # 916866]. Believe Charles Jones who married 23/25 Aug 1732 at Monk Okehampton [film # 916866] to Mary Northcot (buried 16 Jun 1787 Monk Okehampton [film #916866] to be (1749) John’s parents.

Mary Jones Squire’s parents are John Jones, chr. 15 Mar 1776, Iddesleigh –of Monk Okehampton [Film#917196], and Elizabeth Abell, chr 17 April 1780 [Film #917141], Hatherleigh. They were married Nov 26 Hatherleigh. Think John Jones died prior to 1841 because Elizabeth is on the 1841 census with Mary. Elizabeth is age 71 on the 1851 census.
Elizabeth Abell married John Jones 26 Nov. 1802, Hatherleigh, Devon. Elizabeth is the daughter of Henry Abel (yeoman) born about 1745, who married 15 April 1770, Hatherleigh (Film # 917141) to Mary Luxton (born about 1745).

Mary Jones was born about 1805. At age 34 she is on the Petrockstow, Devon, 1841 census as Mary Squire with her mother Elizabeth (Abell) Jones age 60 and John Jones age 32.
Mary Jones married Jonas Squire at Monkokehampton, Devon, on 18 Aug 1829. Jonas died 27 April 1841 leaving her with seven children and one unborn child. On the 1841 census they are: Elizabeth 12, Mary 10, William 9, Thomas 6, Jonas 3, Grace 2. Sarah baptized 22 Apr 1841 was born after the death of her father Jonas and also after the 1841 census. Mary Jones Squires is believed to died about 1877 and to be buried at Irish Grove Cemetery, Menard Co., Illinois, USA. We believe that Mary came to the USA in 1854 or 6. The US 1900 census indicates her daughter Grace Squire came in 1854; family notes give immigration via Canada 1856 or age 16. We do not know if any other of the Jones also came. Grace married 20 Sept 1860 at Middleton, Illinois to William Palmer Davy.
