CANONSBURG, PA., Sept. 15 -- Mrs. DERRICK and daughter, Bernice, of Flushing,
NY and Mrs. PARKER of Plainfield, N.J. were the house guests of Rev. and Mrs.
A. Q. NORTON of Canonsburg. During their stay many social functions were
given in their honor. Rev. and Mrs. Norton entertained over seventy-five
guests at a lawn party. Mrs. Byrdie E. CRUNKLETON entertained at a
breakfast, and Mrs. Mae BRIGHTFUL was hostess at a luncheon. They were also
guests of honor at the CHEATHAM-CARTER nuptials in Beltzhoover, Pa.
CHILLICOTHE, O., Sept 15 -- Mr. and Mrs. RAYMOND, HARTSELL of this city,
entertained a party of friends at the beautiful kelly country estate, Popular
Ridge, O (Ohio), during the holiday week-end, Among those present were Mr.
and Mrs. William MARSHALL, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen PETTIFORD, Mr. and Mrs.
George PAYNE, Mr. and Mrs. William LEWIS, Mr. and Mrs. Homer TAYLOR, of
Columbus and Mrs. Ruth COTMAN prominent business and political worker of
Columbus, and her house guest C. A. CORNISH of Washington, DC.
BROOKLYN, NY Sept. 15 -- Among the recent week-end guests at "Robiou" Lodge,
the summer home of the Robert ELLIZYS at Greenwood Lake were: Mrs. Betty
DAVIS, Georgetown, Kd; Mr. and Mrs. E. K. JONES and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald
NORMAN of Flushing; Mrs. Marie HOLBROOK, James HOLBROOK, Dr. and Mrs. Arthur
BORDERS, Fort Worth Tex; Mr. and Mrs. Maurice MOSS, Pittsburgh, PA; Mrs.
Catherine HIGHWARDEN, Toledo, O; Miss Ruth MCGHEE, and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie
JOHNSON, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest ALEXANDER, Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel FOSTER of New
York City and Mrs. Laura J. ROLLOCK, Brooklyn, N.Y.
CAMDEN, S.C. Sept. 15 -- of pleasing interest here was the recent marriage
of Miss. Evelyn Evans PICKETT and Willard CAMPBELL of Anderson, D.C, Rev. J.
W. BOYKIN and Rev. T. J. WILLIAMS officiated at a pretty ceremony in the
bride's home in Campbell street. The brides attendants were her sister, Miss
Bessie PICKETT as maid of honor; Mrs. Margaret HANCOCK PICKETT, matron of
honor, and little Annie Louise HEMPHILL, flower girl. Charles CHERRY of
Anderson was best man. Many out-of-town guests were present.

Personals
Mrs. Clara WADE, of 2333 Centre avenue, motored to Jenkinjones W. Va., owing
to the death of her sister, Mrs. Irene JACKSON, wife of Mr. Charles JACKSON.
Funeral services were held Sunday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of Eckman, W. Va.
Mrs. WADE was accompanied by her niece, Miss Lucille FRANKLIN and her
cousin, Miss Ada MONTGOMERY. Enroute home, Miss MONTGOMERY visited her
parents in Speedwell, Va. and Miss FRANKLIN remained in Pulaski, Va where she
will spend a few weeks with her parents.
Rev. Josephine Howard WILLIAMS is a patient in the Presbyterian Hospital,
where she will undergo an operation in a few days. Her condition at this
time is favorable.
Mr. Joseph HINES, Jr. was host at a delightful affair at Hotel Norvell,
honoring Mr. Luther ROBINSON of McKeesport. Mr. ROBINSON recently
entertained a number of the younger set at a buffet supper at Stonyhurst.
Among the guests were Misses Louise and Mary GEARY, of Philadelphia, Robert
SNOWDON of Rosemont, Griscom and Francis BATTLE of Gladwyne, Miss Anne FENNER
and Mrs. RANDAL of Chestnut Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud MURRAY proprietors of the Lone Star Restaurant 103 Fullerton
Street left the city Monday on a motor trip to Texas where they will spend
several weeks. They will be the guests of their daughter in Houston and will
visit relatives in other points of Texas. They will also attend the National
Baptist Convention in Houston
Dr. John EUBANKS and Dr. Leslie B. HOWELL, the latter a brother of Dr. Julius
HOWELL of Blackadore street, were visitors with the HOWELLS here early this
week.
