DESCENDANTS OF JOHN EDWARD QUIG AND EMMA LaCLAIR BERRY

FIRST GENERATION

William P. QUIGG.

The following is quoted from e-mails dated February 2000 from Jacqueline Quig Burg (JQB) of Florence, NJ. JQB is the daughter of John Wallace Quig and granddaughter of Edward Albert and Mary Hoffner Quig.

"My father brought over a family bible he had in his possession. My dad said he got the bible from Alice Quig after Ed died, so it may be the one Aunt Jess had. It is very old about 4 inches thick. On the cover is ornately engraved Hamlet H. & Anna R. Berry. Inside it says a gift from my pop December 15, 1875. Apparently this was given to Emma LaClair."

Inside are original birth and death entries:

Hamlet H. Berry died 11/4/1897

Anna Rebecca Berry died 11/12/1888

John Edward Quig birth 5/19/1866, died 9/15/1913

Emma LaClair birth 5/3/1867, died 4/19/1900

married 1/31/1889

An original marriage certificate dated 6/4/1865 for William P. Quigg and Sarah H. Hunsworth married in Philadelphia.

Also notes that John Edward Quig was their only son. Apparently the two G's were last used by William.

I also have exact dates for:

Jessie Emma born 2/9/1892

Edward Albert born 3/30/1897

William Robert born 12/7/1899, was exact name, maybe he used Robert later.

There was a neighbor named Lorraine she was close to and she gave her many hummels. She had a large collection. I was not involved in any of this so I don't really know and I don't think the neighbors were interested in family papers.

Ed and Jess were sort of on the outs. He went to visit her in the Masonic Home and I heard she told him not to visit her. But they both were stubborn and he said he will visit her anyway."
