Cary's New English Atlas ; being A Complete Set of County Maps, from actual surveys,
corresponding in size with his general atlas ; on which are particularly delineated
Those Roads which were measured by Order of the Right Honourable the Postmaster-
General, By John Cary, as well as all others, both direct and cross ; Rivers, Navigable
Canals, Parks, Heaths, Commons, &c. &c. exhibiting also The whole of the Market and
Borough Towns, Parishes and Hamlets, as well as Places of inferior note. To which
is added A Copious Index, containing reference to the Hundreds &c. in which the
Places are situated, the number of Houses, the Population, and the amount of Poor
Rates paid by each, as stated in the returns made to Parliament. London : Printed

A beautifully engraved atlas consisting of title-page, forty maps of the counties of
England, a general map of England, and another of Wales.
The titles of the maps begin : "A New Map of," and end : " By John Cary Engraver
" with a date. They all bear the imprint: " London: Published by J. Cary,
Engraver & Mapseller N°. 181, Strand." and, unless otherwise indicated, the date.
" Septr. 28. 1801."

This atlas was issued in parts from 1801 to 1809 and brought together and published
as a complete work in the last mentioned year.

Added to the imprint, on the title-page, is : " Corrected with additions to the year
1818."
The maps are the same as in the first edition ; they all have the date 1818 following
the title, and bear Cary's imprint with the same date.
At the end is an Index on pages 1 to 39, and on page 40 " Summary of England,
Wales, and Scotland."
