Gloucester City bird's eye view.Published in Robert Atkyn's The Ancient and Present State of Gloucestershire in 1767 (the first edition was 1712). A fine large copper  engraving with much detail, all four Gates are shown - detail of the East Gate, the foundations of which are  visible opposite Kings Walk, also parts of the city's Civil War defences to the east following the line of the  Roman walls. Link to further detail showing the North Gate, Northgate St. and St. John's Lane . Also shows the mediaeval bridge in Westgate St . which became redundant when the branch of the Severn it crossed silted up.
