According to the History of Franklin County, Pennsylvania published by Warner, Beers & Co., Chicago in 1887 the Covenanter Church was also known as the Reformed Presbyterian Church,and the Covenanter Church at Fayetteville was part of an organization centered at Scotland.


The Covenanter Cemetery was behind the Covenanter Church, which has no been in existence for many years. In the front of the cemetery is a tablet listing Ruling Elders in the Conococheague Congregation of the R. P. Church.

This small tablet has the following inscription:

John Kennedy, James Bell, John Thomson, Samuel Thomson, John Renfrew, Sr., John Renfrew, Jr., Robert A. Renfrew, John R. Renfrew, S. R. Burns, David Hughes, James Kennedy, Sr.,James Kennedy, Jr., Robert McCoy Ruling Elders in the Conococheague Congregation. R. P. Church 1740 - 1899
