Wissler, Whisler & Whistler Families by Oby Bonawit
Self-published by Oby Bonawit, 1st edition in 1983; reprinted 1985. Address as of 1977 was 12030 SW 68th Avenue, Miami, FL 33156 (not sure if address is still valid as he's since passed away). This book identifies 7 families that came to America in the early 1700's, as well as several others not previously identified in the earlier editions. The genealogies included document families in the 1700-1800's in America. The list admin can do lookups to verify if your family is included, so just
email! It is available at the LDS library in Salt Lake City, UT, but I'm not sure if all editions are available.
Compilation of Wissler, Whisler families of America by Oby J. Bonawit
Self-published in 1988 and is a revision of 1985 version. This revision is drastically different that the first, and families were melded together and at least one removed completely. Due to the differences, there are several researchers trying to discern which version is more accurate. As soon as that is determined, we will post the information here and on the list for everyone's benefit. Mr. Bonawit died in 1996, and after trying to establish contact of his family by several researchers, there has been no documentation found of his research. At this time, no one has been able to find concrete evidence for either book. My take is that you use these volumes for what they appear to be...POSSIBLE clues...check those sources carefully:o) Available on microfilm as FHL 6177513 (4).
Index of Compilation of Whisler families in America by Richard L. Whisler
Copyright 1988 and appears to be self-published. This is an index for Oby Bonawit's 1988 revision
Compilation of Wissler, Whisler families of America to enable quick research. This is available on microfilm as FHL 6125450 (2).
