Day 2 of our Pommern Trip
Wefelow and Borntin are off a few kilometers to the east of the road from Treptow to Greifenberg. We took little side-trips to these out-of -the-way places on our second day in Pommern, as we traveled from Klatkow to Woedtke.
This photograph represents our attempt to document older buildings in Wefelow and Borntin. More pictures (we hope to reflect the current communities, as well!) of these areas will be available in a few weeks. The approach to Wefelow down a long land with trees on one side and open fields on the other was one of the most picturesque of our trip. Our guide developed some car trouble during this part of the trip, due to the bumpy terrain, so our interaction with the people of this area turned out to be limited.
You can read the
obituary and funeral service notes for Bertha Hintz Ziemer, wife of Heinrich Johann Ziemer, daughter of Johann Ferdinand and Fredericke Bischoff Hintz. (Thanks to Richard Wullschleger, whose father was the minister who performed the funeral service.)
A map of Pommern will show you the location of these villages.
