At the time of his marriage to Gladys May Shrubsall, Cecil was a Batchelor and a photographer.

Gladys and Cecil separated in 1927. Cecil then moved to Kensington where he was unemployed and moved into lodgings.

At the time of Cecil's second marriage, then aged 51, to the widow Edna Lawlor, he was stationed at Upper Heyford with the Royal Air Force. His service number was 139988, rank Corporal in 1941 (photographer). Home address, Holloway, Somerton, Oxford.
