Obituary - Death of Mrs. P. P. Johnson -
Died at her home in Toulon, March 24, 1893. Mrs. Jane Brown Johnson
Jane Brown Johnson was born April 4, 1826, in Ross county, Ohio, and departed
this life March 24, 1893, at her home, in Toulon.
She was married to P. P. Johnson, August 7, 1845, in Fayette county, Ohio, Rev.
John W. Kelley performing the ceremony. To them were born nine children, of whom
eight are now living: Elizabeth M., Mary Ella, Augusta Belle, Plessie, Peter A.,
Roswell M., Lyman L., and Dr. A. L. Johnson. They came to Stark county in 1854,
and settled where John Martin now lives. She was converted and became a member
of the M. E. Church early in life and has been a firm believer in the holy
doctrines of Christianity. She was a devoted companion and an affectionate
mother. Her life was so adorned with Christian virtues that all who knew her say
that she was an excellent lady. As the wise man said, "Her husband and
children arise to say of her, she was a blessed woman." She has passed from
this lower sphere of life, clothed with morality, to a "house not made with
hands, eternal of the heavens, and is clothed upon with immortality, having
joined the company of those gone before."
