Our Baltic Cruiseby Earl Ross
Tallinn, Estonia - 1st stop

This country has been under the rule of the Danes, Swedes, Germans and Russians for years and finally has been free since 1991. Our guide was very pleased to be a Free Estonian. She was very proud of Self Rule. She frequently pointed out the amount of Road Construction that was taking place (and I felt right at home). Not much road construction took place before 1991.

Estonia's second major industry are tourists -- which surprised me. There were lots of local handicraft shops -- most related to crocheted and knit Women's wear. The souvenirs got more expensive with each succeeding stop along the cruise route -- and most people would have liked to go back to Tallinn again for shopping.
