One of Oregon's original counties, formed in 1843, this was renamed Washington County in
         1849. (The county name on the census was also spelled as Twality and Twalatain).
Created in 1851 from parts of Benton and Linn Counties; parts annexed to Douglas Co. in 1852,
         1862 and 1863.
