Created in 1892; abolished in 1906. Part was annexed to Ellis Co..
Created from southern Kiowa Co. and western Comanche Co., 13-Aug-1910, when Governor Charles N. Haskell proclaimed the Co. as official, in response to a special election by the residents. In January 1911, the Oklahoma State House of Representatives seated the representative from Swanson Co.. However, residents of Comanche Co. sued, and in Armstrong v. State, the Oklahoma Supreme Court dissolved the Co..
