Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe of Rhode Island —
"The Wampanoag have been here for many thousands of years. At its height, the Wampanoag had over 12,000 warriors, and their
lands stretched from northern and eastern Rhode Island, the majority of Massachusetts, and west as far as the New York frontier.
To the north were the Massachusett Indians, to the southwest were the Narragansett Indians, and to the west were the Nipmunk, a
tribe that broke off from the Wampanoag. The Wampanoag Nation consisted of many subtribes dispersed throughout the territory
which each had their own chief and were led by a supreme leader, or Massasoit, who lived in present day Warren, Rhode Island.
