Will of Daniel Ramey 23 January 1806
.....In the name of God, Amen, I, Daniel Ramey of Clark County and the state of
Kentucky being of sound mind and memory, coling(calling) to mind the mortality of this body
and through certainty of death when it shall please God to clal me home. Do make,
constitute, ordain, and declare this my last Will and Testament, in the manner and form folllowing.
Revoking and disallowing by these presents all and every Testament or Testaments, will or wills heretofore by me made
and this to be taken only for my last will and Testament and none other. And now for the setilling(settling)
of my temporal estate and such goods and chattles (chattels) as it hath pleased God to bless me with, I do
ordain, give and dispose the same in the following manner.
.....that is to say, first I will: that all my just debts that I owe be paid:
.....Secondly, I give to my beloved wife, Rachel the use of my plantation, whereon I now live,
togather (together) with all my movable property, except making the children ,that is yet to come of age ,equel(equal)
with them that is married, when she shall think best,
freely to support on it during her natural life or widowhood:
.....Thirdly, I give my plantation whereon I now live to my son James, the movable property
that is left to be sold or divided as may be thought best and equally divided amongst all my daughters
that is then living, and if any of my daughters should die before they marey(marry) or become
of age, the surviving ones shall have their parts.
.....and to designate what is the bounds of the plantation whreon I now live: Beginning
at the mouth or nere(near) the same, thense across the ridj (ridge) as can be run until it strikes the line of
Daniel Wood on Two Mile Creek:
......Also I will to Daniel Wood a certain piece of land beginning on the creek running with the line of Reed and Hampton until it croses(crosses) Joseph Bushes spring branch,
thence, down s. branch to the mouth, thence with the creek to the Beginning.
......I will to my son John, ninety five acres of land lying whreon he now lives beginning
at Achillas Eubankes Corner thence with I(orJ) Reeds line to the Two Mile Creek, thence down the creek to the
mough(mouth) of My (or our) spring branch, thence up said branch so far as a straight line will includ
(include) to quantity.
......I will to my grandson, James, son of Daniel Ramey, the plantation whereon my son Daniel
formerly lived and midle (middle) lot and balance of my land to have possession whin (when)
he becomes of age and the said plantation to be in the possession of my son Daniel's widow
so long as she continutes to live on it or remains a widow and if she maries (marries)
or refuses to live on it the plantation to revert to my estate until the said James becomes of age.
.....I also wil to my son James, my blacksmith tools.
.....My will is that my beloved wife, Rachel, shall and may at ther will and pleasure sell aney(any)
or all of my negroes in case they don't suit her, for the express pirpose of suiting herself better with
other negroes.
.....and lastly, I constitue and appoint my beloved wife, Rachel and D Hampton, joint
executors of this my last will and testament, as witness my hand and seal this twenty-third
day of January, one thousand eight hundred and six.
