Jessie was taken in by a Dr. Dickenson, and seperated from her brothers and sister. She was raised by this Doctor and his wife. She never saw her sister again, but was reunited with her brothers later in life.

My dad said that he remembered his first day of school. It was at a little school in Quinwood, WV. His mother sent his brother Romie and him to school. My dad said that when he got there and seen a lot of strange children, he decided that school was no place for him. So he and Romie decided to go back home. When they got back home, his mother was furious, and she gave him a good switching. His brother said nothing, and let him take all the blame, even though he wasn't to thrilled about school, either. My dad he remembered that he was wearing those little short trousers.
