FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR HOMINY FALLS. Tuesday June 13, 1905. On last

Saturday morning James W. Childers left his home near this place to go to

Wm. Jones' who lives on Anglins Creek, about two miles from Cook, the

distance being about three miles from his home.

He took a path that leaves the Nicholas road, at the Snow Hill

schoolhouse, that being near way to above named place. At a very steep

place in the path, his horse seemed to have caught his foot in some

timber that was lying across the road, and fell throwing Mr. Childers

quite a distance with his head down the hill between two logs. His

horse rolled over him, or walked over him in getting up himself and

crowded him so closely, that if he was not killed by the fall, he was

unable to extricate himself and died quite awhile before he was

discovered. One of his neighbors saw his horse returning toward home in

the evening, mounted him and went in search, finding Mr. Childers as

above stated. He summoned help and Mr. Childers was taken to his home,

and buried Sunday at Mt. Vernon Church, burial service being conducted by

Revs. J.J. Reynolds and I.F.J. K. Cluster. Deceased leaves a wife and

ten children at home, besides a number of married children, and many

friends to mourn his loss. He was about 60 years of age, a peaceable

.....? Kind neighbor and good friend.

This sad accident has cast a gloom over the entire neighborhood. The

bereaved widow and children have the deepest of sympathy of all. A.B.C.

James W. Childers had red hair and a beard.
