Thomas is age 18 in the 1880 Census Russell County, Virginia which have made his birth year 1862 or 1863. I certainly could not have been the s/o Margaret Gibson because Jonathan had not married her until 1865. Marriage Licence obtained

Court Record and Deed: Found a court record dated 14 March 1891 stating that the division of the estate of Franklin Minton (deceased) was handed to a commission consisting of W. N. Banner, Joseph Baker and N.C. Fugate to partition his land and assign the dower to his widow, Clarinda Minton. To his children Margaret Minton, Mattie Belcher, Mary Meade, Clarinda D. Jessee each received one-eighth of the land. Also alloted was one-eighth of the land to the infant children of Alexander Osborn and three-eighths to John F. Minton. The Commission divided the 144 arces of land as instructed. Honorable John A. Kelly, Judge of The Circuit Court of Russell County, Virginia resided over the partitioning. (Found in the old deed books held in Russell County Court House, Lebanon, Virginia. Deed granted 8 August 1890, Partition and Allot, Mattie Belcher, Minton, Franklin Est., Book 27, Page 331, area 20a)

Deed: dated 10 February 1902 between Martha Belcher and William M. Minton. Sold the land that she received from her father for $200. Land situated on Castle Run in Castlewood, Virginia. I believe that this is the land that is along Castle Run at the entrance to the Belcher's old homestead. A small house is still there that was owned by Will Minton, who helped Frank on the farm. From my understanding Clarence Minton lived there at the time of Frank's death and was the person who found him. It is now owned by Lloyd Ramey.

Obitutary: Lebanon News, Lebanon, Russell County, Virginia dated 8 January 1964 (transcription) Frank Belcher of Castlewood was found dead Sunday evening at his home, where he lived alone. Russell County Sheriff Guy Whited investigated the death. His department reported that Belcher had died of natural causes. The man had believed to have been dead three to four days. Surviving are six daughter, Mrs kate davis, Kingport, TN., Mrs Mattie Beavers, Castlewood; Mrs Effie Vanover, Clinchco; Mrs Lizzie Skeen, gate City, Mrs. Eliza Kite, Rockford Ill., and Mrs Virgie Skeens, Louisville, Ky. Funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Castle Run Methodist Church, with burial in the family cemetary near the home. Cannot obtain Death Certificate for another 14 years.

Jan. 14 - Mrs. Emaline Belcher 67 died at her home this morning at 4:45 o'clock following a long illness. Surviving are her husband; six daughters, Mrs. Howard Beavers, Mrs. Alf Fields, and Mrs. Kate Castle, Castlewood; Mrs. B.J. Vanover, Stienman, Va.; and Mrs John Skeens, Stonega, Va.; and Mrs. Pete Skeens, Gate City, Va.; two brothers Ed Hall of Castlewood and Walter Hall of Bishop, Va., six sisters, Mrs. Dave Skeens, St. Paul, Va., and Misses Nellie, Eva, and Edith Hall, Coeburn, Va., Miss Ellen Hall, Bistol and Miss Melissa hall, Roanoke.
