Sussex County is located in South East England, Surrey and Kent Counties are on the North side, the English Channel and W. and NW by Hampshire. This area has the chalky hills in the Valley of Weald, towards the sea and wide marshes.
After the collapse of the Roman Empire and its military withdrew from the Island of Britian around 410 AD. The area was filled with tribes of Jutes, Saxons, and Anglos from Denmark Germany, Seven main kingdoms emerged.
The seven were Essex, Sussex, Kent, Mercia, Northumbria, Wessex, East Anglia.
The Kingdom of Wessex became the leader over the other kingdoms, and their line of rulers became the first to have claim to the title of King of England.
