OLD RESIDENT OF CEDARVILLE IS DEAD
John Tarbox, one of the oldest residents of Cedarville, and an uncle to Judge C.H. Kyle and Frank E. Tarbox of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs., W.H. Barber in Cedarville at 7 o'clock Thursday night aged 88 years.
The infirmities of old age caused his death. He had been in failing health for several years and was confined to his bed for the past few weeks.
Mr. Tarbox was born in Parsonfield Maine December 3, 1829. He came to Ohio in 1850 and settled in Cedarville, and in 1853 married Miss Rachel Michol. His wife died in January 1899.
Mr. Tarbox served in the Army for four years during the Civil War as a member of the 34th Regiment O.V.I. Alexander Kyle is now the only surviving member of that company in Greene County.
Surviving Mr. Tarbox are the following children: Mrs. Harber, Mrs. S.K. Williamson, W.J. and T.N. Tarbox. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:30 at the Tarbox
home. Interment in Tarbox Cemetery.
