AN OLD CITIZEN GONE
ALLEN JOBE AFTER A LONG LIFE IN THIS
COUNTY PASSES AWAY
Y. S. TORCH-Allen Jobe, so well known as one if the good citizens of this
community for so many years, died at his late residence on Walnut Street
Thursday morning August 16, 9:15 o'clock.
He was born in Cecil County, MD. October 1, 1815 and accompanied his parents to
Belmont County, Ohio moving from there to Yellow Springs where he has resided
for thirty nine years.
He leaves besides his widow, two sons, Thos. B. Jobe, our present postmaster,
and Addison Jobe of the Powder Mills, and two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Curtain
of Columbus, and Miss Hanna Jobe who resides at home.
One son, Emment enlisted in the Union Army in the late Civil War at the age of
fourteen years; serving in the 94th O. V. I. and 8th Ohio Calvary, but was
captured and died a prisoner in Salisbury, N.C.
The funeral service was held at the late residence at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Glen Forest Cemetery.
