Death note:    He loved to fish and had a pontoon boat. He was loading his boat into a lake one day via a boat ramp. He walked back to the boat, sat down beside the tire of the trailer and passed away from a heart attack. per granddaughter Sharon Smith

Family story says his father Albert Melton Smith left he and hi s mother by this time. He left them when Melton was around 4-5 years old. Went into the army at age 21.
