Descendants of Benjamin Richardson of NC & GA

BENJAMIN RICHARDSON SR.1 was born about 1740 in North Carolina, possibly in Pasquotank County – Elizabeth City area. A family of Richardsons who were living in that area are listed in the 1790 US Census and are possibly his relatives. He died in 1799 in Bulloch Co. Georgia. He married 31 Jul 1767, SARAH MIZELL (b. 1747, Martin Co. NC, d. 02 Apr 1802, Bulloch Co. GA) in Tyrrell Co NC. She was the daughter of Luke Mizell IVand Sarah Smithwick. They moved to Georgia by around 1769-1772. The date of birth of eldest son JOHN begs the question whether BENJAMIN was married previously, but the answer is unknown at this time, so we assume this was their child.

BENJAMIN SR.1 was grantedS-2 land in St. Phillips Parish GA in 1769. He received a grantS-3 of 150 acres in St. Phillips Parish in 1772. He received a grantS-4 of 200 acres in St. George Parish GA on 02 Aug 1774. He was appointed as a Commissioner of RoadsS-5 by the State of Georgia. He servedS-6 on the Grand Jury for Effingham Co. GA during 1785. He was serving as Tax CollectorS-7 for Effingham Co. GA in 1792.

ii. WILLIAM E.4 (M., T.) RICHARDSON; b. 11 Feb 1817, Bulloch Co. GA; d. 03 May 1903, Baker Co. Florida; m. (1) ELIZABETH WILSON; (2) JANE E. (LEE) KEENE. Migrated to Florida about 1866 and established a large family of descendants there. Various middle initials have been found for him in different records - the compiler chose the one written by Sadie Green Richardson in 1926.
