Unsolved Mysteries
Every researcher comes across some names in their research, which puzzle the researcher. They may have been one of their children’s sponsors?  Enumerated with them on the census?  Came up in a discussion with relative?...etc? How was this person relevant to the family?  In some cases, following these mysterious people have uncovered a bundle of genealogical information, I would not otherwise have found.

If you have any additional information on any of these individuals please e-mail Ginny Chung with the details.

Dear Ginny,
...... He also had 3 old maid cousins that owned a lot of property in Roxbury, Mary Sissy, Hannah and Lena, they loved cats until Lena got scratched by one got blood poison and died.  I can’t think of their last name.  If there is anything I forgot, let me know as I may be repeating. Aunt Margaret

Alice Manning was born June 28, 1893 in Boston.  She died in May 1979.  She was single and worked as a teacher.  She was buried in Malden in Holycross cemetery.  Alice was from a large family.  Anna recalls a brother Fred.  Fred had a daughter Ann who married someone named Charles.  Charles was a retired Army officer.  He adopted a whole family from Vietnam.  They since have moved to Tennessee.

Checking her birth record, she is the daughter of Daniel and Mary Manning of Boston, residing at 133 Marcella St. in Boston
Checking the cemetery records in Malden we find the following individuals buried with Alice:

  1. Catherine Dowd 1902, Irene Manning 1906,John Dowd 1909, Charles Dowd 1918, John G Manning 1920, Mary J Manning 1943, Dennis J Manning 1958
  • MCGOVERAN, MARGARET - Margaret McGoveran is listed as godmother to Patrick Donahoe and Mary Parker’s last child, Joseph Patrick Donahoe in 1876.  At this time I haven’t faintest what the connection, if any, Margaret McGoveran has to this family.  Checking the 1880 Census index did not uncover possible candidates.
