The Altus Times-Democrat Vol. 4, No. 242, page 1 Sunday July 5, 1931 PIONEER FARMER OF COUNTY DIESH. B. Jones, age 76 years, died at 2 p. m. Friday at his farm home eight miles east and one and one half miles north of Altus. He had been in ill health for the past several weeks and seriously ill the past several days. Funeral services were held at 10 a. m. Saturday at the Midway Church with Rev. J. W. Oden of Blair and Rev. Worley Ingram officiating. Jones moved with his family to Jackson county 26 year ago and was among the pioneer farmers in this section of Oklahoma. He was born in Alabama and several years later moved to Texas. He was married at the age of 25 years and a few years following the death of his first wife, was married to Miss Callie Orr. Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved from Dekalb, Texas, following their marriage and settled in this county. Survivors NamedHe is survived by his widow, Mrs. Callie Jones, four sons, R. L. Jones of Electra, Coy Jones of Burkburnett, and R. P. Jones and J. I. Jones of Altus, and by one daughter, Mrs. G. E. Murrell, of Martha. All immediate members of the family were at the home of the deceased at the time of death with the exception of Coy Jones, who was on his way to Altus from Burkburnett. | |
