I am a descendant of Riley G Ingram and Sarah Jane Jones of Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Do you have any information on Riley's parents? I would greatly appreciate a reply. Kind regards, Henry

"Genetic Distance - 1"
======= ======= =======
Hello Gregg,
My analysis from www.FamilyTreeDNA.com has concluded that you and I may be genetically related, but I can't figure out how. The only family name I found on your Web page that exists in my family tree is Moore. But that is my Mother's maiden name and I believe that our "Genetic Distance - 1" comes from the Y-DNA ... If you wish to look at some of my research just google my email address and you'll find plenty.
Take care!

Greg, remember me, I am a friend of Hal and Loraine Groat. This is the first time I have visited your site and am very interested in your Gant line. I have info on Giles Gant who died in SC about 1792. He was related to the Cummins of Bedford and Lincoln CO. as well as William Amstrong and wife Margaret Wood Armstrong. I have not been able to connect these Armstrongs with mine. My grandmother was Willie Etta Armstrong Wright, born in Lincoln CO., TN. Her great grandparents, Thomas Armstrong and Mary "Molly" Brown Armstrong were in LCT by 1810 from SC. I have been trying so hard to find out if my Armstrongs came directly to LCT or stopped someplace along the line like NC or eastern TN & got to LCT when? I also see your world connect has some Renfrow's. I am a Renfrow also. My grandmother Rebecca Renfrow Wright was born in Cumberland CO., NC (1818) and was in LCT ca 1833. I will get back with you after Christmas. I have some work to do on the William and Margaret Wood Armstrong for some of my info cannot be right. However the person that I got it from has now passed away. I need to call the Groats for it has been some time that we havew talked. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hope you have not had too much snow. Julia

Gregg: My cousin, Jack Smith, gave me a copy of a record of a trip my grandfather & grandmother made from TN to CA in 1921. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Pickle, daughter of Thomas Pickle and Virginia Caroline Swiney. They left from Sherly (Shirley) Word's. I did a search and found your genealogy data base v. 22 that showed he was married to Susan Adele Pickle, my grandmother's sister. Susan Adele's name was also on another page, Thomas Pickle Bible records, but I missed it, as I was looking at Marriages, which does not include theirs. Is that your picture at the bottom of data base v. 22? Your work on the Pickle and related families has been a great help to me. Thanks! -- Don Lane (Houston, TX)

my wife's grandfather was listed in a 1900 census of Meriwether Co. Georgia as John F. Upshaw and I have been unable to find another John F. Upshaw except in this line of Upshaws. His age in the 1900 census is exactly the age of this John F. Upshaw and the Middleton Upshaw lived in the same town as her grandfather grew up in i.e. Luthersville , Georgia The problem I have is someone else says they married this John F. Upshaw and I/m looking to see if they are mistaken. This John F. Upshaw died of Tuberculosis in 1900 as did his wife just after their son was born. This son is my wife's father and is listed on the 1900 census records with other records of people my wife knew. I have the exact date of their death but I do not have the marriage certificate of John F.Upshaw and his wife Minnie Leona Albright . Any thoughts or suggestions woould be appreciated xcept in

My great great grandfather was George Ellis Pless. He can be found in the 1850 Census living in Georgia. He was born, according to the Pless family Bible I have, in 1812. He married Sarah D.C. Wynn. They lived in Georgia for a number of years and then moved to Alabama where they both died in 1857. I do not know for sure who George E Pless's father was, but I think it may be Philip Pless, born around 1772 in Carrabus, North Carolina. The 1830 Census in Talbot, Georgia shows Philip with a son the age George E would have been.
Source Citation: Year: 1830; Census Place: Youngs Valley, Talbot, Georgia; Roll: 20; Page: 325.

George is my brick wall and I would love to find out where he came from.

I have Pless pictures from his line that I would be happy to e mail to anyone interested in this branch of the family -- the oldest ones are from the late 1800s.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Glenda Patton

Gregg,
Great website. I'd like to know how you came up with the idea that the Apperson's descended from Denmark. This is the first that I've heard of the family having a Danish origin. I'm well aware of and can trace back my Apperson line to Jean Louis Nogaret de la Valette, the Duke of Epernon, in France. He was Catholic but his son, Bernard converted to Protestant - making him a Huguenot. He had to flee France where he met a Welch woman. They had a son that they named John d'Epernon in honor of the Duke. He eventually came to New Kent County, VA and named his children Epperson. My 6th g-grandfather was Francis Epperson and he changed the names of all his children to Apperson. My g-grandmother was Virginia "Jennie" Belle Apperson.

Is there any link in your family to the MaCauley clan (Scottish) or to the McHenrys (Irish)?

Also, i NEED TO PICK YOUR OVERSIZED BRAIN. If a blood relative dies young, but married, has no issue though, what is the respectful way to include his young widow in the family tree?

Your DNA project is so impressive I cannot find a proper word to write even though I am an Honors major in English from the Harvard of the Midwest. It must take a tremendous amount of your time and money.

Looking forward to your answer. Much Appreciation, Bethany.

Young Bonner, are you still alive and kicking? I discovered that my descendents were preachers with outdoor chapels. Technically, my great grandparents were experts in trick photography - not circus freaks as is commonly thought. I'm simplifying. I'm giving up law as a profession. I'm looking for a man who is foolish (or smart?) enough to think he can make me a stay at home mother. I'm going to cook, sew, get a puppy, a few bunnies and maybe a few chickens with funny hairdos. I'm going to give Martha Stewart a run for her money. I'm going to be the dollar store/yard sale version. Good (and inexpensive) things :-)I'm tired of being a man. I'm also hoping to have a few more little miracles. I'm going to name them Ruby, Daisy and Delilah and treat them like Bonnie from Gone with the Wind. I always hated ponies, lol. I'm on the lookout for my Rhett Butler. I'm tired of being a damsel in distress :-) I quit my job for ethical reasons and told my father's circus freak, gypsey family to leave me be once and for all. They are so trashy. It's hard to be a frugal Irish/Scottish/German/Norse lady with these low life gypseys to contend with. Looking for a new Tara as well. I hope you are well. I enjoy your website very much, especially the picture gallery.
