Hi Gregg, are you related to Robert F. Bonner? I found him a few days ago - I am asking "dumb" questions since I just ran upon your page while watching the Cowboys look even dumber! If you noticed, Annie Elizabeth Lyle who married John Henry Stone, Jr. was my paternal 3 g.grandmother. Now I am trying to figure out if Maher Shalal Hasbaz Lyle and Elizabeth Gibson remained in Virginia until after Annie was born before moving their family into Georgia. All of my Stone data states that Annie and John were married either in VA or Spartanburg Co. SC where they lived until near the 1820 time period.

I am searching for my 2nd great grandfather William Henry Harrison Cook B. 1847 in Tennessee. His mother and father names are unknown at this time. According to the 1880 Census for Parker County TX his parents were born in Ala. I have found him listed in the Marriage list for Parker County 1850 to 1900 (??) under W. H. Cook M. Nancy/Nancie Woodward/Woodard. I have not been able to find any more information on him. If you come across any kind of information that is mentioned above I would greatly appreciate you contacting me.
Thank You, Cindy Bush

Thanks for putting together such an interesting website.
I'm descended from Jane Bonner and William Harper through their daughter Ann Turner Harper who married Robert Simmons, my G4 grandfather. The Bonner ancestry is very interesting to me and I've read the various speculations about it going back through Richard and Anthony Bonner of Quinton, Gloucestershire, England. I guess you wouldn't have any reason to know more about my Harpers. I can't trace back beyond William Harper born in 1703 and died 1757 in Sussex County, Virginia. I'm also trying to trace his wife (supposedly Frances Wyatt). Thanks again for the great site.

My grandfather had a brother with a very unusual name, Sankey Decasville (DeCasville?)West, born in Alabama or Tennessee around 1890. Since I'm one of the few decendants of Harold (his brother, my grandfather), and I know that nobody in my immidiate family has done the research, I'm taking a shot at maybe finding a cousin out there. I think Harold and Sankey's fathers' name was Milton and their grandfather was Irvin or Irwin. If you know anything I can look at to point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. I never met my grandfather, he died before I was born and I feel as though I have no heritage at all. My mother's family is even sketchier. I'd just like to know what country we're from and when my family came here.

Hi Gregg.
I am new to this "obsession", but to give you what I have and basically what I'm looking for, here goes.
I have very limited info. on my paternal side of the family, both about my fathers father and backwards, as well as my fathers mothers side. We grew up believing that our grandmother was of Chickasaw heritage, but for whatever reason (if the story was true to begin with) I've not been able to locate anyone as a card holder.
My father was Eloe Wilson Edelen born in December 1916, in Mannsville OK. the son of Robert Park Edelen born May 1891 and Lela Virginia McGuinn(the spelling we grew up knowing) born May of 1897. My most wanted info. is the Native American direct line(if it exists) and as detailed documentation as possible about both sides. My father died in 1989 and had suffered with mental problems as long as I can remember and when my parents divorced he moved back to Madill to stay with his Mom.
Just the limited information I think I've gathered on the ancestry of both sides have really shocked my Mother, she says that there are people I'm locating that she never met nor heard of. If you can help me piece together this half of my life you would be helping me heal some deep seeded scars. I am blessed that my mother's parents families were quite different.

With great respect and much appreciation for any and all you might be able to fill in for me, I thank you now!

I am the descendant of Naomi Virgil Neely. She was my grandmother, daughter of James P. Neely and Dolly Lavinia Beckcom. James was the son of William D. and Susan E. Neely. William D. was the son James Pickney Neely and Matilda Richardson. James Pickney Neely was the son of Wilkins and Elizabeth Neely. Wilkins Neely was the son of Jacob and Rebecca Neely. And finally, Jacob was the son of William Neely and Elenor Carrington. Therefore, William is my 6th great-grandfather. My grandmother, Naomi V. Neely married my grandfather Vernon Adrian Merriman (born in 1911) and I am trying to find out more information on both sides of the family line. Neely/Merriman. If you could help, it is very much appreciated. Vernon and Naomi had eight children, my father: James Adrian Merriman, Donald Owen Merriman, Charles Roland Merriman, Verna Louise Merriman, Richard Dale Merriman, Linda Jean and Glenda Joan Merriman (identical twins) and Calvin Douglas Merriman. If you would like more information from me, please feel free to contact me. Thank you and have a wonderful day!

I am the daughter of George W. Lemaster who was born in Paintsville Ky in 1913. He married Beulah Castle who was born in 1912. They are both dead now and we are trying to piece together our history. My paternal grandfather was Lewis Lemaster (dob. June, 1867) and he married a Mary Katherine Howard (dob. Aug. 1872) They are both burried in Chillicothe Oh. where he seemed to come from. His death certificate states he was born in Ohio. I can not find a death record for my grandmother and we are thinking that she returned to Kentucky. My paternal greatgrandfather was Ambrose Lemaster from Ohio and he married Fannie Shaver in 1851. I think from Magoffin County. My maternal grandfather was Julius Castle born 1891 eho married Ethel Alexander born 1894. She was the daughter of George W. Alexander and Mary Katherine Davis. Mary Katherine was an adopted indian from Tenn. We thought she was Cherokee but she may have been Blackfoot. If you have any information that can help steer up farther in our quest it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello

I have an old Cabinet Photo book, with a short (Hand written)
bio of the family of Rev. Thomas and Elizabeth Robinson Thomas.
This bio is short but informative, starting with the Rev.
Thomas Thomas and ending in with notes on Rev. John Thomas
and mention of his daughter Sue, (not other info). The Rev.
and his wife Eliz. were born in England, in USA in Baltimore
and ending up in Venice, Ohio.

There only two pictures left in the large book and the bio.

Can you direct me to the rightful owner or give me a path
to follow ?

Thank You

I am writing you about the Swiney family of middle Tennessee. The correct spelling as I know it.. it Sweeney.
John S. Sweeney (12/4/1866 - 11/3/1955) was the spouse of Ola Cannon-Sweeney (10/26/1870 - 11/5/1920). Ola was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Jones-Cannon (1839-1900) and Michael Cannon (1828-1907). Mary Elizabeth Jones-Cannon was the daughter of Charles Gillespie Jones (1803-1874) and Nancy Anne Moore-Jones (1805-1892), families of Maury County, Tennessee. Mary Elizabeth Jones-Cannon was the older sister of my great-grandfather, Silas Montgomery Jones (1844-1921), buried in Rose Hill Cemetery, Columbia Tennessee. Mary Elizabeth Jones-Cannon had three daughters, the first Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cannon-Adams (Mrs. John D. Adams), Lena May Cannon-McAdams (Mrs. J.P. McAdams), and yes... Ola Cannon-Sweeney (Mrs. John S. Sweeney). I believe the Sweeney's had atleast 5 children before the turn of the century. My name is Stewart W. In looking for a great, great, great aunt, Sarah M. Whatley Harrell, I see that you have her husband listed as Thomas J. Harwell. There are lots of Harwell's here about, but this last Name should be HARRELL. Thomas J. Harrell, son of Samuel Harrell and Susannah Heath. They were early settlers on the west side of the Chattahoochee River. Two Harrell brothers married two Whatley sisters. My direct line, Alfred Harrell married Mahala T. Whatley on August 25, 1835 in Chambers Co., Alabama. Please let me know your findings and I'll be glad to share my knowlefge of this Harrell family. Thanks, Jeannette Frandsen

I am looking for information regarding the descendants of Jacob Pickle. He was born about 1766 in n.c. and died after 1850 in Attalla County Mississippi. It is said he lived in Tennesssee in 1810,and he appears in the Marion County (present day Fayette) Alabama census of 1830. He purchased land in Monroe County Mississippi in 1838 and appears in the 1840 Monroe County census.Jacob's grandson, Wesley Pickle and his wife Rachel Towry along with other Pickles migrated to Oklahoma Indian Territory between 1880 and 1883. My grandmother,Zona Pickle Reed, who is the daughter of Wesley and Rachel, came to Oklahoma with the family. Do you have evidence that our Pickle clans are connected? Thank you for your help!

I have been trying to find anyone from the line of Richard Lemasters born abt 1810 that they say Married Barbara Newell,I found death certs that show Barbara Newell was not mother of some of the children, listed as mother was Elizabeth Morrison,Do you know if this was a mistake on the death cert?Usally death certs are pretty correct,I am the 3rd great granddaughter of Richard and Elizabeth Morrison LeMasters,My gggrandmother was Nancy Ann LeMasters born Oct 22 1844 died Nov 4 1922 that married Austin Neville,July 23 1863 Austin was born Feb 14 1842 Died May 16 1895,I have also found that some info given in the LeMaster USA books is wrong,Like they say that a Lemasters was living with Alexander Persinger in an earlier census,At no time was a LeMasters living with Alexander Persinger, because I have every census for him,and I am also the 2nd ggranddaughter of Alexander Persinger,Any help would be greatly appreciated,Lois

I also have a large number of Kirby decendents, 4 generations down. Do you have any bible copies etc. on the Kirby's? Let me know and maybe we can trade some info. Thanks

Was there children of that union, and was Richard the product of that union, or is he of William's first wife (if there was one)? Also, any other McChesney lineage.

Thanks in advance! Willing to share! Sue

My ancestor, James C. Cahoon, ran away from home and was befriended by a William Bonner, who had the racehorse. James named his first son William Bonner Cahoon. Do you know anything about this Bonner?
Thanks.

Any info that you might share with me would be greatly appreciated. If you need additional info on the Schlosser lines I have 10 generations on this line. The picture you have of Isaac Johnathan Swallow and Isabelle Schlosser is a wonderful picture. I was wondering if you could send me a smaller print so that I might be able to copy it. I could only copy half of the picture. Also do you have any more Fleagles in your history? and where does Moses Schlosser and Sarah Fleagle fit into your lines. I get so excited when I am able to find someone else working on the same lines, and I hope I haven't rattled on. I did't enclude dates, but I have them if you should need them. Thank you for your wonderful site. Hope to hear from you soon.

In reading through your information I stumbled onto the name SCHLOSSER. That is such a unique name I thought that might tie in to a family I've been seeking. Alonysious Schlosser came to the US from Austria in 1833 at age 5. I do know his father's name was John schlosser who was an officer in the Austrian Army. He deserted to bring his family to America. That's about all I know on John and am hoping perhaps this might tie to your clan.

Thanks... Mae

I'm trying to find the ancestry of William West, B. abt 1794, based on the 1850 census of Rapides Parish, La. He was born in South Carolina and married Lydia Crews, also born in South Carolina, b. 1799. They married in either Georgia or SC and migrated to Louisiana sometime between 1830 and 1840. Lydia Crews has direct ties to the John Crews, Alex Crews, and Dempsey Crews lines of Georgia and South Carolina. Waynesboro, Burke, Ga seems to come up alot as the possible location of William and Lydia in about 1820, but South Carolina is where there only child, Madison West, was born in 1822. Locations I've found with this Crews line and West's from 1790 forward include Greenville, Spartanburg, Kershaw etc... which as I'm sure you know also includes the later breakdowns into Colleton, Lancaster, Camden, and Prince William Parish comes up as well -- I probably garbled that and there are other areas, but those came first to mind, but my notes are not all right in front of me at the moment. I think most likely my line of West's were in North Carolina in the early 1700's, if there was a familial connection with the Crews/Cruse line back that far as well.

I haven't been able to confirm William West in an 1830 census, I'm guessing he was living with his family. In 1830 he would have had just the one son, under age 10, that we know of. I find it most likely that had other children, but they surely died very young as Madison West never spoke of siblings.

Well, good luck to you in your research, and my complements to you on your very excellent presentation of your family web site.

Thanks, Jimmie (female Jimmie, no male Wests in my line, so I got my Dad's name, I'm just glad they didn't call me James!)

Trying to track the West line is as you know a difficult one, but as he married into the Crews family, I'm basically trying to track their movements and look for West families that are in their area. The Bryan's are also part of the picture, at least as close friends of this West line, my guess really, and definitely as close friends and family of this Crews line. I saw your photo when I was doing my search for the day and I thought, hmmm, he looks like my West's. :) Which is silly of course, but you never know about instincts.

It seems there is not a single story that's been passed down about William West and his family. His son Madison did name his first born son, William James West, which may indicate that this was his father's full given name.

Hi! We emailed a few times about 2 yr. ago concerning John Burdett. I think you are in the line of his 2nd wife that married a Jones after his death in the early 1860's. I gave your info to my cousin, John Burdette of Lubbock who also has a Bonner connection on his Mother's side. I know that he contacted you as there is a picture of the Brudett/Jones gravestone in some of his files. He died last May and when I tried to contact you your email had changed. Now mine has changed too and I'm trying to recreate all of the "stuff" that John and I had put together. My computer crashed and very little was recoverable. Some of John's files have been sent to me but none of the files that list the descendents of JC Burdette, son of John, our great grandfather. John was always going to make me a disk but never got around to it. He had lung cancer for less than a year and thought he had it whipped till less than a week before he died. Hopefully he shared things with you. I look forward to hearing from you. Jan Laughlin, RLaughlin7@austin.rr.com

He had a son Henry Jones who was my great grandfather. I believe Thomas [known as Jeff]died in Hempstead CO, AR, the same place Henry Jones died. Henry's daughter, Minnie Jones was my grandmother. She died in Howard CO, AR. She married George Delton Kesterson. Please contact me if you can guide me in this search.

So, I'm still looking around to see what I can find before I can start claiming I have some Jewish ancestry.

Thanks for letting me on you site to look around.

Hi, question on Benjamin West (1715-1780). Sgt James West(1735-1820) is my Great(x4)grandfather. I've seen all the places that listed Benjamin as father of James and the story about the Torries. One lady , Linda Nelson of Spartanburg has said there are two Benjamins and the one that died in 1820 is not the one we want. She says the Benjamin that died in Glenn Springs SC in 1820 was born in 1742 in MD and that his son, James was born in 1770 in SC and died in SC. She says the Benjamin West we want was born in England, came to Baltimore, MD then Greenville County of SC and that it is his son, James, that was born in 1735.
Any info you have on this will be appreciated.
Thanks, Vicki

Having already submitted my query, I started reading other entries and no doubt found a tie to my Tuckers through William Moore, for my 3d great grandfather William Moore Selvidge married Julia Tucker in 1802 in Jefferson Co. TN. (by Roane Co.) I will contact the lady who made that entry. I am sure the tie to the Powells doesn't start until two generations later when my great grandfather Selvidge moved to Wayne Co. KY. (I have often wondered why,and whether he had family there. He first married Mary Jane Lovelace Burnett, had 9 children and she died. So he married Mary Elizabeth Powell and had 9 more. She lived to tell about it. ;-) However another reason I wished to "talk" with you again, is that on my mother's side now, I descend from Major Lot Lantz of SW PA. Are you connected with those Lantz(s)? Thanks again. Darlene Walker

Adley Bonner married Margaret Hornbaker. My direct line down from them is their son Alexander Bonner. This couple came from Glasgow, Scotland prior to 1800. I am sorry, I do not have any dates for Adley and Margaret other than the 1800 one. They settled in Antietam Creek area of Franklin Co. Their first of eleven children was Margaret born in 1792 and my relative, Alexander was born 9/26/1811. I would like to know more about Adley and Margaret Hornbaker Bonner.

I, and a lot of others I suspect, have been trying to complete the lineage of the Marvell/Marvel/Marvil Family which came to the ESVA in 1649. Somewhere in the migration of the Marvells from Va.to Maryland and Delaware the lineage
became confused. Do you have a complete lineage on this family ? I am descended from Ann Marvel, d/o Robert Marvel
and Rachel Chase. Ann married Charlton Smith ca. 1768 in what is now Sussex County, De. Thanks

I too, am directly descended from the Heath line of Surry and Sussex County, Virginia, as well as the Lane, Hargrave and Harris lines. My Lane; Heath; Hargrave and Harris lines are all interwoven, interconnected and very complicated, but to put it simply;

John Lane married Martha Heath. Their son James Lane had a daughter Nancy (Ann) Lane who married my ancestor David Harris.

In the same Lane line, Thomas Hargrave married Letitia Lane.

In the 20th century, my grandfather Robert Mace Hargrave married Emma Harris my grandmother.

My grandfather was descended from the Lane/Hargrave line. My grandmother was descended from the Lane/Heath/Harris line.

If interested, I do have extensive research of the Heath line, as well as Lane, Hargrave and Harris and all of their connecting lines.

In addition, my great grandfather James Knox Polk Hargraves married as his 2nd wife, Sarah Elizabeth Bonner, daughter of Alfred B. and Assenett M. Bonner.

Sincerely,
James E. Hargraves

I located your site through RootsWeb World Connect, searching for Una Tucker who married William Moore of Ireland. But when I got to your site I noticed that they were not mentioned & it was a different line of Moore you were searching.

You must, like me, enter unrelated people during your search just in case you might help someone or they may be related somewhere along the line.

I really do like your site because you show pictures, Bible records, etc., it makes it more "alive" doesn't it?

Thank you so very much for sharing your information with others.

I am from the line of Irish Moores who settled in Knox/Roane Co. TN in the late 1700s before scattering. Noble Moore was Father of William Moore who married Una Tucker in Roane Co., TN 1813 and Noble also had son, Hugh A. Moore who married Mary "Polly" Tucker in White Co., TN 1819 at the home of George Tucker. Some of the descendents of both families moved to Van Buren Co. AR in the middle 1800s. Hugh A. Moore was my ancestor.

I enjoyed your site.

Thank you.

Charlene
