I found your page from your posting re: DNA testing. I started tracing my family less than two years ago and have found, through some relatives on my mothers side, that I must be related to everyone of importance and royalty that ever lived. While I find this flattering and amusing, I would like to find out how accurate it really is. Any information concerning DNA testing would be appreciated.

Gregg loved this site.....Since it has the brother of my Israel Moore, (This I believe true because of a family story and that William H & Israel always lived close by each other.......And their wives were sisters....Mary "Polly" & Sarah "Sallie" Formby.......)Israel had to be going by his middle name, was he named after his father and used his middle name because of this?

Then being killed in AL, You would think we could find something......I talked to family members in that area and they always wondered if the Israel Moore killed was kin to their Israel Moore.......I told them I believed that my Israel was his Uncle and their Israel was his namesake, or that the father or grandfather of our Israel's......

To the best of my knowledge, my line of the Shearin and Jenkins families are still trying to make the jump-acroos-the-pond, to Britain.

Wm. Jenkins m. Elizabeth Kelderman is the first firm and no links shown for other Jenkins in North America at the time.

The Kelderman connection is also not carried beyond her father's name.

Joseph Shearin seems to be the first firmly fixed of that line. The connections to New England or back to Britain? Not there at the last time I looked into good records that others had provided.

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Mel Jenkins

Hi Greg,

We have talked before.I just wondered if you have found documentation to prove to Mary Francis's family? Did you find a Cencus with her siblings listed or did you go by "Word of Mouth" that this is so.

That is all I have to go on and the fact they lived (mostly) in the same area with each other. My grandmother's family always said that Major Grant was related to the Grants buried at Green's Chapel. No proof, just their say-so.

I was hoping that maybe you had some Bible record or something pointing to the fact these were indeed siblings.
Keep up the great work, you inspire the rest of us!!!

I am looking for the original name of my Great-grandfather's mother. My Great-grandfather was James Beverly Apperson born 3/4/1871 in Lake County California. When my Grandmother died we found a large portrait of an Indian woman in her attic. She had always said that her father's mother was a Cherokee Indian, so we thought that must be her portrait of her. So far I have found that her name might be Elizabeth Virginia, or Virginia Elizabeth Coon or Coons. I was also told that it was not uncommon for Indian Women to Anglicize their names and that she was a widow when she married James Beverly's father, so Coon or Coons may be her first married name. Can't you give me some advice on where else to look to find what her original name was? Thank you so much! Naida Sanchez

Milton Moses Apperson, son of Jacob & Elizabeth R. Apperson, b. June 13,1814, near Jamestown, VA; d. June 23, 1876, Lake Co., CA. (He most likely is buried in Hartley Cemetery, Lakeport, CA, as one of the "unknown" Appersons; or he could be the one with the wooden headboard that says "Apperson". We are trying to find the maiden name of his 2nd wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Virginia Coon/Coons. (The first name of Beverly was handed down at least a couple of generations).

You have been in touch with my first cousin, Jack Smith. Our grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Pickle. I am impressed by the amount of information you have accumulated. As we are related on the Pickle side, I would be interested in any further information on those ancestors (specific dates, etc.) It is interesting to note that there are roots in PA.

A short bio for me: only child (like Jack), grew up in Nashville. Attended Dartmouth College (BA), Univ. of Illinois (MS), and Rice University (PhD), all degrees in geology. Worked 27 years for oil companies, 8 years for environmental companies. Married in 1960, three children. Now retired.

I look forward to corresponding with you down the road. It looks like you are light-years ahead of me. Thanks for posting the data!

Bonner was my gggrandfather...

I like you website very much and have reason to believe we may be related since my gggggrandfather married Francis Shearin and also, John Shearin and Charles Shearin were witnesses to a land transaction involving William and his wife, Francis. I don't think this is just co-incedence.

I have been told that Francis married a Bell, but is it not possible that she may have been a widow when William married her?

Many thanks for your hard work and nice site!

Kathleen

Hi Greg,

I just started a research into genealogy about three
weeks ago into my Grandfathers line. What I have
uncovered so far is the following.

William H. Moore and Mary Ann "Polly" Formby
Elizabeth Moore and Tilman Reynolds
Lucinda Reynolds and David Franklin Huddleston
Rufus Culp Huddleston and Mary Etta Bowling
Buck Franklin Huddleston and Almeda Scalf
Mary Huddleston and John Paul Beckham
KC Beckham .

This would be my line descending from William and Mary.
What a blessing it is to be searching and fine the whole
line completed. It is wonderful.

Blessings,
Mary
