Served as a carpenter on the Frigate "Trumbill," David Saltonstall, Commander, December 1776 to 23 December 1777, and as a Sergeant in Capt. Return Jonathan Meig's Co., 1775. He and his brother, Samuel, with their families, journeyed together from Connecticut in 1808 and bought homesteads in Stow township, purchasing the land from Joshua Stow. Here his wife died in 1809 and was the first person buried in this township. Jonathan is also buried in the cemetery at Stow.
