This site is for the publication of genealogical information for
the Gausmann / Steffenson / Stromberg / Tweeten Families of Minnesota and
Iowa. My web site with links to all individuals in my database may
be found here.
For now, this site includes photos of my family members and
ancestors.
Photo Identification. I have many unidentified photos
from the 1870s to 1900 that I cannot identify. At least one was
taken in Germany, and it is quite likely that they are Gausmanns. I'm
convinced that my living cousins in the U.S. may recognize some of the people
in these photos, or my themselves have photos that can help me identify these.
Gausmann Cousins in Germany. Original family emigrated from
Blasheim, Kreis Luebbecke, Gemany, in about 1852. Several individuals
with the Gausmann surname are listed in the German
white pages.
Missouri-Minnesota Link. In 1855, a group of pioneers
(including my great-great-great grandfather Friedrich August Gausmann)
left Missouri for Minnesota. There are Gausmanns still in the St.
Louis area, and I believe there may be some connection to Minnesota
Gausmanns. I ran into a man at the Woodbury Methodist Cemetery who
said that a lot of the early Woodbury pioneers came from Warrenton,
Missouri.
