George Martin Waltz was born on Jan. 29, 1860, the son of John George Waltz and Elizabeth Yahner. He was baptized on Feb. 12, 1860 at St. Benedict Church in Carrolltown, Pa. His godparents were George Waltz and Christine Jahner (Yahner).  The officiating priest was Father John, OSB.

George married Mary Ann Shell in 1889.
