Catherine Cecilia Waltz was born in December of 1861, the second child of Michael J. Waltz & Elizabeth Eichenlaub.  She was baptized on 12-30-1861 at St. Augustine Church in St. Augustine, PA. Her godparents were her uncle and aunt, Jacob and Jane Wagner. The priest was John Burns.

Catherine grew up on the family farm just outside of Chest Springs Borough.   Catherine's  father, Michael J. was a  prominent builder and contractor throughout the area. 

On July 17, 1888, she married Jacob G. Gantz of Gallitzin.  Catherine & Jacob had nine children:

I have not yet verified this information on the  children, nor do I have birth dates for any of them.  I was also told that later in life, many of these children  resided around the Pitcairn area (in Allegheny County), so I'm assuming that Catherine & Jacob's family must have moved out of the Cambria County area to Allegheny County at some point.  I also have information that Catherine may have married a second time, to a Jacob Jones, who also lived in Gallitzin.  To date, I have been unable to confirm this second marriage.   If you have any information on this family, please contact me.
