A view of the Benjamin Gallup Farm, Voluntown, CT, August 2000, taken from inside the Gallup Family Cemetery located on the farm.  Deanna tells me that the farm is still in the hands of the Gallup family. Taken at the Gallup Family Cemetery, Gallup Farm, Voluntown, CT August 2000 by Deanna Lamb.

It is a memorial erected at a later date by Levi Alva Frink, a descendant of this Kinne/Gallup couple. This Hannah is first child of Ben and Amy Gallup.  Deanna believes that this Levi Kinne is probably a cousin.  I don't have much info on this couple...if anyone can add to this info, please let me know. Wequetequock Burial Ground - Oldest graveyard in Stonington, CT.
(Pronounced Wickety-quock)
These early gravestones were called wolfstones, which are large slabs of granite
placed on the grave to protect the body from wild animals.

Walter Palmer is an ancestor to many of us in the Gallup family.  Mostly through his daughter Grace Palmer who married Thomas Minor. He was one of the first settlers in the Stonington, CT area.  If you are interested, there is an excellent website at www.walterpalmer.com that will give you some great background.  Grace Palmer was the daughter of Walter Palmer and possibly Elizabeth "Anne" Smith Brewster.  She was b. 9 May 1612 and d. 31 Oct 1690.  She was the wife of Thomas Minor and bore him 13 children.  Many of these children are direct ancestors of the Gallup family through the Avery, Minor, and Palmer families.
Thomas Minor or Miner was the son of Clement Minor.  He came to the colonies in 1629.  He married Grace Palmer in Charlestown, MA on 23 April 1634.  He was one of the first settlers in New London County, CT. The inscription on the stone reads "Here lyeth ye body of Lieut. Thomas Minor departed 1690 age 83."  The small upright stone next to his was likely placed there for Grace Palmer, his wife.
