Brechin Cathedral
We made a pilgrimage to Angus in search of the mysterious Picts. I had heard of a museum called Pictavia, and arrived there expecting great things. What we found instead was basically a children's museum, with multi-media displays featuring Pictish "music" and the Battle of Dunnichen, facsimiles of Pictish stones over which you could rub tracings, movable blocks for manipulating runes - but no real artifacts. So we drove into Brechin, and visited the cathedral. Inside we found some actual Pictish stones nestled in the corner, behind the pews and beneath the stained glass windows. Nothing much to look at, but at least they were authentic. (The tombstone below, by the way, is entirely Victorian.)
