He is buried at New England Cemetery, Cheney, Spokane County, Washington A Family Story The Orange Harry was in grade school doing what children do in school, reading, writing and math. The day became brighter when Harry spied an orange. A fellow classmate brought it for lunch. His family was poor, so he had never eaten an orange, a luxury in his home. Harry had the opportunity to steal the orange, he did so and ran. Out into the woods he ran, away from everyone. Shame would have to wait. He sat down ,his back to a tree. He unpealed the orange, and bit into it. The sweetness burst into his mouth, and stung his lips. Punishment hovered in the woods that day, but it was worth it. This is one of the few stories I know about my Grand Father, it was told to me by my Dad, Perry Gallagher. |
