1) From Book by Richard Matthews - Lived all his life in the Pickering
twp. area. He marched with his brother Peter during the Rebellion, but
managed to escape being captured, and arrested. Was in the engagement at Montgomery
Tavern and for some time afterward was in hiding. On different occasions
parties of soldiers came to the MacIntyre homestead in search of him,
but he had eventually escaped to the US, and after the General Amnesty
was proclaimed, returned to his home in the twp. of Pickering. He married & raised his
