17) GADDIS/LOCKEElizabeth GADDIS b. in GA 1783 d. 1860 m John LOCKE abt 1810. In 1830, she was living with their 11 children in Limestone County, Alabama. John was not mentioned, however, she became a widow only in 1834 and joined a wagon train to what became Lockesburg, Arkansas. Her 11 year old son died along the way when he fell out of a tree. They arrived in Southwest Arkansas on Christmas Eve and settled there.
Three of her sons donated land for the town of Lockesburg to be formed. The marriage date, about 1810, comes from a family notebook written by Effiegene Locke WINGO, Arkansas' first Congresswoman.
