Archibald Campbell Turner was born St Johns, Brunswick, January 1835. He came to New Zealand from London, by the ship "African" in 1862. He was a Civil Engineer and Surveyor and held important Government and County appointments. He had been a Officer in the Canadian Mounted Rifles, joined NZ Colonial Forces and saw service in the Maori war as a Captain. He died at Tauranga on the 30th December 1912.
