Private John McMullen was a member of the 65th Regt which participated in the Maori Wars, hedied at the Veterans Home on Monday. Arrived in New Zealand with his regiment in 1846, took his discharge in 1865 since then he has been resided in Auckland. A military funeral is accorded.

James McQuoid was charged with procurring liquor during a currency of a prohibition order, and with being a idle and disorderly person, in that he was found by night without lawful excuse on the premises of George Sutton of Napier Street. Sutton said that he was awakened by his wife early on Sunday morning and she informed him that there was some person walking about the house. He got up and found accused in his front room, and later handed him over to the police. The Magistrate sentenced McQuoid to three monts imprisonment with hard labour.
