HAASE. 14th Oct 1915, Weekly News. The death occurred at Wellington Hospital of Mr Otto Haase,
a well known and respected resident Takaka. Deceased had been ill for some time with heart trouble, and had
reached the age of 68 years. He was well known throughout the Nelson Province, and in the early days was one
of the best known and popular Mail Carriers of the almost trackless North. Deceased is survived by a widow and
family of nine, one daughter and eight sons. One of the latter is serving at the Dardanells, whilst another was recently
invalided home from Egypt.

HOWARD. 14th Oct 1915, Weekly News. Another old resident of Takaka, in the person of Mr John Howard,
was found by some neighbors lying dead in his house. The Police and Dr were communicated with and after
examining the body, Dr Woodward stated death was due to natural causes. Deceased who was 66 years of age,
was a widower with three sons, S.J and A H Howard of Takaka and Mr H J Howard of Wellington. He was a native of
Victoria, and came to New Zealand at the time of the gold rushes.

HOWSE. 1st July 1915, Weekly News. I regret to record the death at Waipawa Private Hospital, of Mr David Howse, of
Ashley, Clinton. The deceased gentleman was making a splendid recovery from a operation performed for appendicitis last week,
when he collapsed from heart failure. The deceased was a member of the Waipawa County Council, having sat on that body for
seven years. He was also a member of the Waipawa Hospital Charitable Aid Board, and was a Director of the Hawkes Bay Meat
Company. In the passing away of Mr Howse, the district has lost one of its most useful public men .
