Henry Clarence Hoyte of Malahide, Dublin arrived New Zealand by the ship "Carisbrook Castle", for thr Katikati special settlement in 1875, but came to Tauranga. He was in business as a Druggist and Chemist up to the time of his death which occurred on January 23rd 1904, at trhe age of 73 years. In Dublin he was a member of the Grand Masters Lodge and was first Master of Lodge Tauranga.

At Howick, on July 19th, at about 8pm, a Mr Hubert was found lying dead on the road, opposite Mr Robinson's in Howe Street. It is surmised that he was wending his way home and at the spot mentioned was seized with a fit. The body was conveyed to the deceased late residence. A inquest was held on July 20th, and a jury returned a verdict of "Found dead." No buriel details.
