First Letter
Corrected Version:

Dear Sister Leafy,
I now take my pen in hand to inform you that I received a letter from you a few days since, for which I was very thankful, as it informed me that you are well. And long may you continue to enjoy the same blessing and render thanks to you for the same. Our health is very good at present. Lydia is still here and seems very contented. She is doing very well.
You spoke about going to the west and should like to have us go with you. Now if you should not go until next spring; and we can raise enough to go with [you], which I am in hopes. We can if father can pay me what he owes me. I feel very anxious to go and take my children from a factory village. For Andrew has got to be a wild boy. He never goes out without getting [into] something new. And why should I care ? Where I am, there is my home. I want you should write to me when you think you shall go to the west.
Give my love to the children and Caleb. Tell him I am for the west. I shall have to stop soon for I hardly know what I am writing now my, children are so noisy. I suppose you know that I have got another heir. We call her Hannah H. I must close my short letter, for it is past ten O'clock. So good-by dear sister.
Write Soon,
Don't forget to write.
Ruth Bowen
Say when you shall start for the west.
