Rose,published in 1914 FRED WARNKE (1898) Fred Warnke is the owner of the east half of the southwest quarter of section 28 and the north half of the northwest quarter of section 33, Posen township. He was born in Germany January 24, 1856, and came to the United States with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warnke, when about six months old; his mother died soon after her arrival to America. The family early located in Sibley county, Minnesota, where the father died when the subject of this sketch was thirteen years of age. Mr. Warnke's boyhood was spent in Sibley county. He was brought up on the farm and educated in the country schools. Thrown on his own resources in early life, he continued to make his home in Sibley county until 1880. That year he moved with a brother to Stanley township, Lyon county, Minnesota, and worked for his brother until 1898. He then came to Yellow Medicine county and bought his present farm in Posen township, on which he has lived ever since. When he bought the place it was raw prairie, without buildings, fences or improvements of any kind. All of improvements have been added by Mr. Warnke, and he has a fine home. The marriage of Mr. Warnke occurred February 24, 1903, when in Sibley county, Minnesota, he was united to Mary Boetcher, who was born at Henderson, Minnesota, April 25, 1875. They have one child, Martha, who was born September 23, 1907.
