Rose,published in 1914 INGVALD OLSON (1892) Ingvald Olson farms 240 acres of land on sections 11 & 15, Swede Prairie township. He was born at Stavanger, Norway, January 20, 1874, a son of Christopher and Engebor (Larson) Olson, both of whom died in Norway. At the age of eighteen years, in 1892, Ingvald left the old home and came to America, his destination being Clarkfield. The first year he worked on the section and in the harvest fields and then was a farm hand four years. In 1897 he began farming, his first location being the southeast quarter of section 11, Swede Prairie. After conducting that two years he bought eighty acres of land on section 4, of the same township, sold it two years later, and rented land in Tyro township four years. Then he worked out a year. After that he farmed rented land on section 33, Swede Prairie five years, and on section 9, one year. He located on the present farm in 1911. Mr. Olson was married in Yellow Medicine county March 17, 1894, to Ida Olson, who was born in Sweden March 1, 1871. Her parents, Bent and Maria (Jacobson) Olson, died in the old country. Seven children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Olson, as follows: Oscar E., born July 1, 1895; Ernest O., born February 21, 1897; Martin W., born September 13, 1898; Alma, born March 13, 1902; Esther M., born December 6, 1906; Ella C., born April 16, 1908; Henry E., born June 13, 1910.
