Rose, published in 1914 JENS GULLICKSON (1891) Jens Gullickson, one of Stony Run township's progressive farmers, has been a resident of Yellow Medicine county over twenty years. Mr. Gullickson is a son of Gullick and Annie (Erickson) Halverson, natives of Norway, and was born June 21, 1866. He lived in Norway during all of his younger days, working on his father's farm and for others in the inland country. He attended school until fifteen years of age. In 1891, with his parents, Mr. Gullickson came to the United States. He came direct to Yellow Medicine county, and the first year he lived with an uncle on a farm between Hanley Falls and Hazel Run. Until 1903 he worked for different farmers in the vicinity of Granite Falls. Then he started farming for himself in Stony Run township, renting land six years. In 1910 he bought his present farm and has lived there since. He has greatly improved the place, putting up some fine buildings. In addition to the home place, Mr. Gullickson farms a rented place of 160 acres. A part of his farming activities are devoted to stock raising. Mr. Gullickson was married in the fall of 1889, in Norway, to Mary Johnson, who was born November 29, 1864. Two children comprise the family: Alma, born September 8, 1983, and Gladys, born July 31, 1901. Both live at home. Mr. Gullickson is a member of the United Lutheran Church of Granite Falls. His parents died at Granite Falls, the father in 1906, and the mother in 1907.
