Rose,published in 1914 HANS T. GREVSTAD Hans T. Grevstad is a prosperous farmer of Swede Prairie township. He owns the northwest quarter of section 4, which is a good farm, improved with one of the fine farm homes of the precinct. This house recently completed at a cost of $3000, is 22 x 28 feet in dimension. It has a hot water system of heating, is lighted by gas, and has modern improvements throughout. Mr. Grevstad was born in Sonmor, Aalesund, Norway, July 25, 1866. His father, Thore A. Grevstad, died in Norway in 1910, and his mother, Anna B. (Exset Volden) Grevstad, still lives in her native land. Until he reached his majority Hans worked on his father's farm in the old country, and in 1887 he immigrated to America. For a number of years Mr. Grevstad worked as a farm hand in Faribault county, Minnesota, and for two years worked at the carpenter trade in the same county. He came to Yellow Medicine county in 1898 and bought 120 acres of his present farm, later buying the other forty acres of the quarter. He has ever since been engaged in farming his land, except one year, 1909-10, when he was on a visit to his old home in Norway. Mr. Grevstad was married in Faribault county, Minnesota, November 25, 1896, to Anna Helgeson, who was born in Story county, Iowa, March 2, 1878. She is a daughter of Helge and Anna (Skarhaug) Helgeson, who was born in Norway and who died in Faribault county, Minnesota. Mr. and Mrs. Grevstad are members of the Norwegian Lutheran Church.
