Rose,published in 1914 CHRIST CHRISTENSON (1880) Christ Christenson, who rents 300 acres of land on sections 33 and 24, Tyro township, has lived in Yellow Medicine county since he was nineteen years of age and has witnessed many changes during that period of time. The parents of our subject were Christen Getmundson Fettje and Cathrina (Anderson) Fettje, both of whom came to the county in an early day and died in Sioux Agency township, the father in 1900 and the mother in 1908. The birthplace of Christ was Norfjord, Glopen, Norway, and he first saw the light of day on August 6, 1861. The family came to America in 1880 and founded a new home in Yellow Medicine county, in Sioux Agency township. Christ came with the other members of the family and for several years worked out. In 1890 he bought the northeast quarter of section 14, Sioux Agency, improved the place, and engaged in farming. He sold out in 1909 and has since been engaged in farming in Tyro. Mr. Christenson was married in Sioux Agency township February 6, 1893, to Bertha H. Chvistad, who was born in Norway August 6, 1892, and who came to the United States in 1891. The names and dates of births of the nine children of the family are as follows: Cathrina and Martha, born August 16, 1893; Carolina, born January 15, 1895; Henry, born July 23, 1896; Carl, born March 23, 1898; Inga, born May 21, 1900; Anna, born March 2, 1902; Martin, born November 23, 1904; Benny, born March 17, 1906. The family are members of the Norwegian Lutheran Church.
