Rose,published in 1914 RASMUS N. AARESTAD (1883) Rasmus N. Aarestad is the proprietor of a 240 acre farm on section 1, Normania township, and has lived in that township many years. He has a well improved farm and a find residence. He engages in general farming, making a specialty of Red Polled cattle. Mr. Aarestad was born in Stavanger, Norway, June 23, 1859, a son of Nels and Maren Aarestad, both of whom died in their native land. Rasmus lived in Norway until 1883 and then came to America and to Yellow Medicine county. He worked out six months and for the next five years engaged in farming in Lyon county near Cottonwood. At the end of that time he bought his present farm in Normania, upon which he has ever since resided. He is a member of the Norwegian Lutheran Church. Mr. Aarestad was married in Yellow Medicine county December 6, 1888, to Marie Isaac. She was born in Adams county, Wisconsin, June 30, 1868, a daughter of Andrew and Sofrone (Barnson) Isaac, who came from Norway. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Aarestad are: Amanda, born November 18, 1889; Franklin, born May 21, 1891; Suella, born May 22, 1893; Ada, born September 12, 1895; Raynold, born December 13, 1901; Stella, born December 11, 1903; and Mildred, born November 1, 1906.
